One of the few standing tobacco barns left in North Carolina.
My art is inspired by the wonder of nature and her amazing ability to create uniqueness that is elusive, dramatic and rare. That exquisiteness cannot be recreated but I try to capture the feeling and significance of that moment in each one of my paintings - the atmosphere in a sunset; a storm or a stunning sky or an unusual animal pose. I aim to seize that fleeting moments awe and preserve its meaning and intent. Because I want the art to grab you, I tend to exaggerate the subject by means of composition and then color. I add lots of blending and drying retardant medium to my acrylic paints so I can smoosh and scrape the paint on the canvas or board. I actually prefer board. I will often use a palette knife to lay down my first layer...
